Activities
The ES youth group gets together most Sunday and Wednesday nights. Every 2nd and 4th Sunday night the youth come together at the building for lifegroups. Monthly we engage in in-home devotionals, in which we eat, worship, and interact with different families from our church family. Many times this provides an inter-generational opportunity for our teens to learn from older members about life experiences and faith challenges. Wednesday nights we meet at the building at 7 for a service project, inter-generational night, devotional, fellowship, or something fun.
Lifegroups are made up of teens from the same grade level led by a non-youth group individual or couple (lifeguards). We love the idea of our teens being lead/mentored by a couple (other than me or their parents) all throughout their junior high and high school years. We believe this blesses their spiritual development as well as their experiences in community. Through worship, personal testimonials, and small group discussion, spiritual formation takes place as they grow in their walk with Christ.
Lifegroup leaders are: Seniors - Justin & Tammi Allen; Sophomores and Juniors- Brett & Meredith Fielder; Freshmen - Ryan & Sarah Hostetler; Jr high girls - Ny Potter; Jr high boys - William McNeely and Billy Oxendine.
We are intentional about the activities we plan and how we spend our time. We want everything we do to bring glory to our God. Therefore, we plan activities that will unite members of our youth, service projects to help them learn to have the attitude of Christ, and family events in order to bring our families closer together individually and with other families (particularly the teen family retreat each November). Plus, our kids just love being together and bringing others into our group...so there are many opportunities to be in community with one another.
Our summers are a blast! We grow closer to God and stronger in our faith in various ways: mission trips (Honduras, Chicago, Nashville, Nicaragua), Camp Barnabas, Harding's Uplift, Wilderness TREK, Soul Lift, Babes and Bibles (jr high girls devotional), Sisterhood (high school girls devotional), Boyz 2 Men (guys devotional), service projects in our community, and a whole bunch of FUN activities!
We hope that if you are searching for a church family you will consider us. We would love to get to know your teens and have them be a part of our group!
